Edward Seago
(English, 1910-1974)
Edward Seago was an English artist known for both his watercolors
and oil paintings of beachscapes and street scenes.
Working in a late Impressionistic style reminiscent of John Singer Sargent,
Seago’s work is characterized by its carefully observed color modulation and
grounded sense of realism. Born on March 31, 1910, in Norwich, England, he went
on to briefly study with the painter Sir Alfred Munnings, but was largely self-taught.
Edward Seago 는 영국사람으로 해변이나 도시풍경을 그리는데, 수채화나 유화 모두 하는
화가로 알려져 있다. 미국의 John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) 를 연상케하는 후기인상파
그림을 그리는 그는 색상 변조(變調)를 하는데 특히 주의를 기울이며 사실화를 기조로
하는 것이 특징이다. 잠시 Alfred Munnings 경과 함께 공부한 적이 있으나 대부분은
